The Mercedes-Benz SL55 AMG is a high performance variant of the R230 SL-Class that was introduced for the 2003 model year. Featuring a range of performance-focused improvements from in-house tuner AMG, the SL 55 AMG was powered by a 5.4L supercharged V8 engine that generated 493hp (510hp after 2006). This engine sent power to the rear wheels via a 7 speed automatic transmission. As well as a powerful motor, the SL 55 AMG received uprated suspension as well as distinctive exterior trim. Production of the SL55 AMG ended in 2008,
